The role of the internet in highlighting the importance of public libraries in Iraq

Abstract: The study aims to answer the previous questions to reveal the nature of the relationship between public libraries in Iraq and the Internet era and its role in highlighting the importance of public libraries. The study concluded that modern technology, including the Internet and its services, does not pose a threat to the continued presence of public libraries in Iraq, that the Internet does not constitute an alternative to public libraries, due to the nature of the services provided by public libraries to their beneficiaries, due to considerations related to the credibility of information, in addition to the pioneering role played by public libraries in the socio-cultural aspect, and that modern technology and the Internet have had profound and clear effects on public libraries, so instead of posing a threat or an alternative to them, they have become used as tools and means that enable them to perform their roles more effectively by overcoming the obstacles of time and place, as well as through the modern and renewed services that public libraries have come to provide through the rational and optimal exploitation of modern technologies and the Internet.
