Women and environment: An NEP-based analysis of ecofeminism

Abstract: Activities associated with industrialization and urbanization have caused havoc on the environment in today's world, needing costly and long-term remedies. As environmental stewardship becomes more important in today's culture, attitudes regarding the environmental crisis are altering, with a greater emphasis on women as agents of positive change (Hunt, 2020) [7]. This quantitative study uses the New Ecological Paradigm (NEP) scale and ecofeminist theory to investigate gendered views on environmental concerns for sustainability. Ecofeminism theory advocates for an integrative approach to investigating the relationships between gender, ecology, and social justice, serving as a lens through which to examine how environmental concerns interact with gender dynamics. This study uses survey data from the NEP scale to assess the impact of gender on environmental perspectives and beliefs, which may influence people's behaviour. This study identifies several aspects of the eco-gender gap by investigating the complicated relationship between gender and ecological consciousness. The findings offer insight on how gender influences environmental concerns, highlighting the importance of combining ecological studies with advocacy efforts to incorporate ecofeminist perspectives into sustainability activities.
